First Point to point which would be a phone called from one phone to another and example of this type of network is shown in “figure 5-10 [1]”.
Second is point to multipoint which would be used in IP telephony and wireless Internet and these types of network are used by large companies so different buildings that are used by that company and are located in different parts of the world can communicate with each other.
Third is mesh which "simple connects each node to at the very least two other nodes so that if one of the nodes goes down the information on the network can be routed though the other node [2]" and an example of this network is also included in this reference.
Over the past few years wireless technology has become more and more important in the use of peoples everyday life like checking emails whilst on the move or taking a meeting when on the more or reading the news from a wireless device. Some of the different types of applications that use wireless technology are detailed in reference [3]. These different applications use wireless technology to access the Internet which allows people to communicate with one another from anywhere in the world or to access information like news reports or medical information and treatments and many other different types of information. Wireless technology can also be used to control machinery from anywhere in the world or used to send information about a process. In reference [4] shows the different applications that use wireless technology today like for example sending sensor readings back to a display monitor so that application can be monitored.
The main advantages of wireless technology today is that communication and distributing of information to anyone anywhere in the world is now possible by using wireless applications like the smart phone and other other wireless devices. With the development of smart phone and other other wireless devices the way people communicate with each other has been changed forever. A blog discussion on how wireless technology was change the world has been included in reference [5] which discuses how different applications can use wireless technology to improve how people communicate with each outer and how people can use wireless technology to access information or take business meetings when on the move.
“The world’s population today stands at 6.6 billion and 3.5 billion of the world’s population have mobile phones which means that about half of the world’s population has access to wireless communications [6]”. In reference [6] this report covers how wireless technology can be used to improve the world that we live in today. One example of this is that wireless technology could be used to provide health care information to remote locations.
In conclusion wireless technologies have change the way people communication/interact with each other. And with the development of the smart phone people and other wireless devices people can now access the Internet while on the move allowing people to watch movies, talk or video call anyone else with a wireless device and lots more. With more and more applications being designed to incorporate wireless technologies the applications of wireless technologies seems to be endless.
